There are types of music that beneficially boost your activities such as studying, relaxing or exercising. Choose music smart and make the most of your day!

Studying

Dr. Williamson admits. “For a general rule, if you want to relax you should choose songs with slower tempo, less key changes and more predictable structure.” Experts like Tomatis claim baroque music like Mozart, or calming devotional music like Gregorian or Sanskrit chant, or all sorts of ambient or new age music as generally beneficial, either for calming and de-stressing or for helping in studying.

Studies have linked classical music to increase learning capabilities, lowered blood pressure, pain management, and stress reduction. Classical music can actually help with brain development in children.

Relaxing

It doesn’t really matter if you’re a fan of nature or not, you might have noticed that when you’re surrounded by green grass and peaceful nature sounds such as a running stream, birds singing in the trees or simply the wind moving the leaves in a forest, you suddenly become a lot more peaceful and content. Recent studies show that it’s not just a self-induced state since a group of researchers decided to monitor the brain waves, heart rate and a lot of other markers for people exposed to nature sounds.

Exercising

Fast tempo, dramatic content, upbeat music is proved to be very uplifting and motivating when you are dancing, running or exercising. Rock is also shown to help with identification and they can even have some of the same benefits that classical music does. However, some music in these types contains lots of negative words, meanings or emotions. As music transmits emotion so well, it makes sense that it may not be psychologically healthy to listen to a lot of music that’s made with negative emotion. For example, listening to a lot of rap or death metal may not be healthy in the long run because much of it contains a large amount of anger, which you will receive and resonate with; most people would say it’s unhealthy to feel anger, or any other strong emotional stress, too often.
